A very sad day in Bibby Line and UK Maritime history occurred in September 1980 when the MV Derbyshire was lost with all hands in Typhoon Orchid off the south coast of Japan.

The Bibby Gazette for Summer 1980 carried the Memoriam below.


The MV Derbyshire is the largest British ship to be lost at sea.
